Since 2011 NEDI has actively been providing support to youth and women farmer through Inputs likes fertilizer, seeds, farming implements and logistics. Funds for such interventions are being provided by the government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Fertilizers
Further to the input assistance to beneficiaries NEDI also buys produces of youth and women farmers in their communities, with a view to providing ready market facility, saving them from cost of transportation of goods, . This will further motivate and encourage the targets to actively participate in the agricultural value chain.
Most importantly, produces bought from the farmers like rice and groundnuts are processed and sold locally. Indeed this is in line with the Vision 2016 of H.E the President, Sheikh Professor Doctor Alh. Yahya AJJ Jammeh and his concept of "Eat what you grow and what you eat". The proceeds from sells still revolve to the youth and women through other interventions.
